Why Do I Do This?

“WHY DO YOU DO THIS?"

People ask me this question a lot. I became interested in pelvic health as a specialty because I suffered for years with women's health issues. When I learned that they are
treatable with physical therapy, I thought, why didn't anyone tell me about this? I wanted to be part of the solution.  Specializing in pelvic physical therapy allows me to offer expertise, practical help, and encouragement to others in similar situations.

I do this because I want to offer people options besides just medication or surgery, and offer people
hope for recovery.  When my clients discover that their condition is in fact treatable, I see relief on their faces and I hear hope in their voices.

I do this because it meets a need that often goes ignored or is not easy to discuss. And people get better! I am constantly amazed by the healing power of the human body and the improvements that people experience, as well as the improvement it makes in their quality of life.

Margaret, one of my first pelvic PT clients, had suffered from incontinence for over 20 years. She also had several serious medical complications that impacted her health and her mobility. She was telling me about the improvements she had noticed since beginning pelvic physical therapy 4 weeks prior. “I wake up dry now, and not only that, but I can now enjoy my coffee and breakfast before I have to use the bathroom! I haven't been able to do that in years.” Margaret paused and looked at me with tears in her eyes, and said, “Laura, you have no idea how huge that is to me. THANK YOU.”

THAT'S WHY I DO THIS!
